RESEARCH / CANDIDATE. This document is an observational research synthesis. It informs candidate improvements but does NOT constitute binding canonical Engineering Standard until each decision is individually reconciled, tested, and accepted via governed ADR.
Executive Summary: Observed Upstream Shifts¶
The Drupal ecosystem around Drupal 11.x/12.x demonstrates several upstream developments observed from Drupal.org, git.drupalcode.org, and community channels:
- AI-Native Core Architecture: Expansion of
drupal/ai,drupal/ai_agents,drupal/tool, anddrupal/mcp_server. Upstream git.drupalcode.org activity shows work on native batch embeddings (#3568648) and AI Core 2.0 ReACT runner refactoring (#3553408). - Declarative Configuration & Recipes: Continued adoption of Drupal Recipes and Site Templates.
- Core CLI Standardization:
